Going from St. Severo you come to the house and the church of the Chinese [actually it is the Hospital "Elena d'Aosta"]. Everyone knows the name of our venerable Neapolitan Father Matteo Ripa, founder of the congregation of Sacra Famiglia (Holy Family), named "of Chinese".
These fathers have a college for young chinese, indians and every infidel nations, and a boarding school.
The church was completed in 1729, at the foot of the altar is buried the more venerable founder Ripa; the picture of Sacra Famiglia and the portrait of the first two chinese students were painted by Antonio Sarnelli; the copper statuettes of Ss. Giuseppe, Gioacchino, Anna and Elisabetta in four niches were not commendably performed on the drawings of Solimena.
