This church, desired by the Jesuits and dedicated to S. Francesco Saverio, was built in 1634 and redecorated on a design by Cosimo Fanzago. When the Jesuits were thrown out of the kingdom in 1767, the church was given over to the Costantinians, who dedicated it to St. Ferdinand in honour of the King.
The Latin-cross interior presents frescoes by Paolo De Matteis , depicting stories of St. Francesco Saverio and other Jesuit saints. There are also statues by Domenico Antonio Vaccaro and Giuseppe Sanmartino. The painting over the main altar representing St. Ferdinand is the work of Federico Maldarelli.
