«Four days of heroic struggle, fought with no means but with courage, audacity, with daring, with deep faith, reaching victory.
The insurrection of september of 1943 was refered to people. Sixtysix hours of continuous fights of men, women and youngs because of the incoming dictatorship and the germanic military invasion. An insurrection with no connotation of class or gender.
On barricades, from the houses, down the streets fought labours, students, intellectuals, ex soldiers; men and women fighting in gunfight, playing fire support for insurgents, helping the injureds and getting back the dead.
A spontaneous revolt, a short but deep conflict that let the allied troops come in, on 1th october, in a city already free that deserved the awarding of the Campaign gold Medal to the city with the following motivation: "With a superb patriotic passion, could re- find, between mourning and ruins, strenght to kick out from neapolitan territory germanic troots, challenging them. During the Four Days of end of september 1943, Naples offered its several sons. With its glorious example, pointed out to all italians, the way to freedom, justice, salvation of Country. Naples, 27 - 30 september 1943".
