The ancient Church, commissioned by the "Collegio dei medici napoletani" and dedicated to Damiano e Cosma, dates back 1611 and was located near Porta Nolana. Because of the widening of Corso Garibaldi, it was demolished and rebuilt in front of the Porta Nolana entry in 1852.
The building, with a single aisle, presents two canvases (copies of Correggio and Rubens), wooden sculptures and marble decorations (in imitation of the rococo style).
The façade has a modest bell gable and it is composed of different styles, a Romanesque and Renaissance revival according to a certain taste of the XIX century.
