Milton's work underscores that our culture has lost respect for womanhood and humanity; oursociety has lost the beauty-seeking as value, replacing it with surrogates; the decadent and luxuriant West has lost its history and tradition and its ethic and aestethic reference models, exploiting and polluting criminally our mother earth.
Our principal purpose must be slowing down, reflecting and regaining a relation with Nature, a respect for Womanhood, world, needy people and our sensible being.
This event shows works of art representing women in history (ancient feminine divinities) placed on supports similar to trees, wood, wire, fabric, paper, mirrors and recycled paper flowers to symbolize rock, water and earth.
The exhibition will lead visitors to an unpolluted natural "paradise" populated by feminian figures who represent all aspects of our sacred mother earth, showing a possible evolution based on a connexion with all living and nonliving organisms and with the planet which hosts us.
Manuela Vaccaro's exhibition, proposed by the Galleria Monteoliveto on the former island of Megaride, completes a path started by the Galleria with two important exhibitions of the Neapolitan artist: "Donne" ("Women") in Naples - in 2010 - on the female condition in times past and present and on forgotten female historical figures; "Donne, coscienza storica e rivoluzione" ("Women, historicalconsciousness and revolution") in Nice - in 2011 -, a clear and interesting analysis on possible scenarios for the future.
Vaccaro's activity with the Galleria Monteoliveto concludes with important collectives in Naples and Nice under the patronage of the Municipality of Naples, the Forum delle Culture Napoli 2013 Foundation and the Consulate General of Italy in Nice. In October 2012 the Galleria will present in Berlin one of her exhibitions with the photographer Luigi Montefoschi at Infantellina Contemporary Art.
