The Photo League's New York, their last film dedicated to the reconstruction of Photo League case in McCarthyist America, emphasizing an anti-conformist style also found in their famous independent investigations. The event will conclude with their special appearance on Friday 13th July during a night dedicated to two important ethical figures: the celebrated photographer Walter Rosenblum and an officer of USA Army, Ehren Watada.
The event, (organized) by Manuela Fugenzi, offers to the Neapolitan public the occasion to know Nina Rosenblum's work and some information about Daedalus Productions Inc. founded in 1980 in collaboration with Daniel Allentuck, producer, director and screenwriter. They both will be present at the event. Known in USA as one of the most committed authors in Investigate-documentary genre, Nina Rosenblum has shaken with her works the American public opinion facing social and political themes little investigated by mass media.
From historical research to the photography world (America and Lewis Hine, A History of Women Photographers, Twin Lensens) and to the unpublished look on history seen by Afro-Americans in Europe during the Second World War and the conquest of the American West. Also based on investigations on the USA American penitentiary system (Lock Up: the prisoners of Rikers Island, Through the Wire), her documentaries are important reference points of the American Liberal-Democratic culture and thanks to them Rosenblum won many awards and prizes as the Oscar Nomination in 1992 and two honorable mentions by the International Documentary Association.
