The ancient and contemporary sense of Piedigrotta it's in ceremonial, in the Serenade dedicated to the Vergin, in the installations of lightning and in singing. It's in rapresentation of identity of a city proud of itself that doesn't want to weaken in its memory. In this edition, as administration, we have supported the community's wishes that, as usual, keeps Piedigrotta alive.
Devotes, laicals, tourists, city dwellers. Art lovers and Antropology accademic, share, during this special anniversary, the aptitude to celebrate the religious cult and the seculars profanes cult. The territory that accomodates the current edition, includes the sanctuary of Santa Maria of Piedigrotta and seafront via Caracciolo, Mergellina seaside and its metro station, the city-hall park " Villa Comunale" within the Cassa armonica and Casina pompeiana and the Theater San Carlo. We want to give space to the creativity of the quarter and to the brave inventiveness of the mothers that, with the classical sewing machine will make the small dresses that children will wear during the festive parade.
Luminous urban mountings, anthologies photographic exhibitions, processions of fishermen, musical laboratories reserved to the youngers, sound itinerant performances, liturgy and pyrotecnhics explosions of colours begins style and content, substance and expression about an event parallel dedicated to the quarter and to the tourists, matching the present with the past. I wish that everybody wants and can be involved in this popular project that joins tourism, culture, history and religion, in the spirit of a tradition that coexists with the new generations experiments.
