Look doesn't lie

The truth in 1/125 of second thru the eyes of italian cinema

Special event of Gala of Cinema and of Fiction in Campania region. From 8th to 20th october the Museum PAN hosts the project of photographer Riccardo Ghilardi

Special event of V edition of Gala of Cinema and of Fiction in Campania region, " Look doesn't lie " it's a photographic project of Riccardo Ghilardi, on display from 8th to 20th october to the Museum of PAN, Palace of Arts of Naples. Riccardo Ghilardi has submitted to his "truth machine" a large numbers of actors, movie directors, producers and soundtrack composers, phographers and dubbers. Accademy Awards and budding youngers: Riccardo Ghilardi immortalizes the look of his characters; it's a work of three years where the exposition at PAN represents the personal selection of the author for neapolitan pubblic.

The actor it's ready on set. Lights! ... and lights come into the scene. Camera! ... and everything it's ready in front and behind the lens. Action! ...and... nothing! Nobody plays. Fiction it triggered off. There's no playscript to follow or a character to interpreter. No antagonist, appearance, no stage whisper. No director, no scriptwriter. No pubblic. In front of the actor there's only a photographer that wants the eyes in camera, ask for a point blank and catches the answer in a two beatings blink, while mind it's still coming to a hypothesis but eyes have already told the truth.

Artists who has borrowed their eyes: Pupi Avati, Luca Zingaretti, Filippo Nigro, Alba Rohrwacher,Sergio Albelli, Elda Alvigini, Michela Andreozzi, Alessia Barela, Giuseppe Battiston, Fabrizio Bentivoglio, Alessio Boni, Tiziana Bozzacco, Massimiliano Bruno, Victoria Cabello, Anita Caprioli, Daniele Cesarani, Marco Cocci, Ugo Conti, Carolina Crescentini, Caterina D'Amico, Ninetto Davoli, Ennio Fantastichini, Donatella Finocchiaro, Giuseppe Fiorello, Riccardo Garrone, Claudia Gerini, Elio Germano, Marco Giallini, Nicole Grimaudo, Caterina Guzzanti, Alessandro Haber, Sabrina Impacciatore, Francesca Inaudi, Daniele Liotti, Valentina Lodovini, Enrico Lo Verso, Vinicio Marchioni, Valerio Mastandrea, Giulia Michelini, Francesco Montanari, Marco Müller, Carlotta Natoli, Regina Orioli, Claudia Pandolfi, Rocco Papaleo, Giorgio Pasotti, Leonardo Pieraccioni, Nicola Piovani, Stefania Rocca, Gabriele Salvatores, Ettore Scola, Giuseppe Tornatore, Carlo Verdone and many more.

How may truths or lies..emotions, sensations, feelings and fears we wouldn't have reveal. How may times, in silence, we have laughed or cried, hated or loved, owned, enjoyed, seduced, exulted, suffered or being afraid of. How may times our eyes have helped or betraied us. How many times they could communicate when words were not enough. Between thousands of nuances of colours and wrinkles of expression that surrounded them, rests the instinct. Joy, pain, astonishment and pleasure, hate, respect, convinction, fear, tenacity, proud, nastiness, life, freedom, death, envy, friendship, love, terror and every thing is part of our hearts. Our eyes answered to questions first. Just for a while. Then mind starts to work. Elaborates, manages, reorganizes or amplyfies, represses or fires, changes, colors, alleviates and contains, exaggerats or recomposes. Purity of every single emotion. Only in that moment our instinct it's on our side...And the time of reaction it's always the same, "A onehundredtwentyfifth of second",the time of a "shot".
