Literature and Visual Arts to stop violence against women

The City of Naples will guide for one week into process of reflection on the status of women and gander-based violence

 
 
The City of Naples will guide for one week children and adults into a process of reflection on gender stereotypes and on the difference between love and non-love.
 
 
For 7 Days Naples will become a crossroads between literature and visual arts, proposing a process of reflection on the status of women and gander-based violence.
From Monday, March, 3rd to Sunday, March, 9th the PAN - Palazzo Arti di Napoli - will host an exhibition that brings together photography, illustration, comics, painting and interior design to visually represent the reality of woman in nowadays society, especially in her relationship with man.
Under the patronage of City of Naples, and a part of the initiatives "MarzoDonna". The works on display are 60, they come from all around the world: France, USA, Kenya, China, Spain, Holland, Serbia, Kuwait and Japan.
The exhibition can not be considered as a proper exhibition, in the sense that it is a part of a larger cultural project. "What is the difference between love and non-love?"  This question will represent the starting point of the process of reflection on the social phenomenon of violence against woman. The event will be rich of events dedicated to "Educations", in other words, the importance of emotional and relational education, especially for adolescents.
 
Regular guests of the event will be students from different schools of Campania and Lazio. They will take part to a training workshop organized by the writer and sociologist Rosa Tiziano Bruno, who is the creator of the project.  The workshop and the visit of the exhibition are the final moments of an educative process students undertaken in the last months.
 
 
Rosa Tiziana Bruno personally oversaw the artistic direction of the exposure. She is also the one of the authors of the book from which the exhibition takes its title,"Chiamarlo amore non si può" (Mammeonline Edition). The book represents the first example of text dealing with violence against women also addressing to adolescents. It is a collection of stories with a special dedication to Edoardo Bennato. Its aim is to underline the true meaning of love. The individual worksof the exhibition are connected to the stories, they follow the invisible thread that combines words and images.
The aim of the project is to pause, reflect anddiscuss with children on two opposites themes, "love and violence", dealing with topics such as gender identity, the relationship between men and women, the control over instincts and the full realization of the self. This reflection involves different disciplines, history, sociology, literature, economics, art and architecture. Thanks to the special equipment Masbooth of Roll Studio, students will havethe opportunity to write sentences and their personal ideas, writing them ofsheets that will be that photographed and shared on the main social networks. Some of these idea will be taken from the web pages maintained by Factoria and Hubstract. On the web pages, students could shared their thoughts.
The events also involves musical performances by Daltrocanto choir and the group CantAbils Ensemble. The closing ceremony (on March, 9th) includes a performance of the group I sogni di Ornid, that will propose music and emotional provocations. There will also be the groups of the Neapolitan mobile photography Igersnapoli, Neapolis_moph and TheMinimals, who are the authors of the photos on display. They will also organize a special photowalk in the streets of Naples, starting from the PAN.
The entire event is organized in collaboration with the Department for education of Naples and in accordance with the Councelor for Equal Opportunities.
