Thursday, March 20th, thinking about the World Refugee Day, on June 20th, edition 2014.
The CEICC - Europe Direct of the City of Naples, promotes for school and university communities the topic on refugees and political asylum. The event will be inaugurated on Thursday, March, 20th at 8.30am at the CEICC, where the associations will welcome a group of secondary school students.
Anna Maria Palmieri, Head of the Department for education, will inaugurate the event. Students will be involved in experiential workshops, aimed at understanding the social and existential condition of the status of refugees and the deconstruction of mindsets and prejudices present inall of us.
The projection of the movie "Va' pensiero" by Dagmawi Yimer, will be presented by the researcher Gianluca Gatta. The movie represents the desperate will of refugees to resist to the problems of starting a new life and to the episodes of violence they experience.
The event will continue on March 21th with the conference "The Right of Asylum in Europe", organized by the Jean Monnet Professorate of the University of Naples L'Orientale, in collaboration with the Archive of Migrants Memories and the CEICC-Europe Direct Naples.
The aim of the initiative isto sensitize the youth community to a vision of the migration according to a perspective that places the human being at the center, beyond the media productions that deal with migrants only on the occasion of dramatic events. A vision that leads to the awareness of common destiny, that, as said by Edgar Morin, inextricably links all citizens of Earth homeland.
