Organised by the Department of Culture of the Municipality of Naples, the Italian Institute for Philosophical Studies, Rai and the Association Petrasanta, Thursday May 8th historian Rosario Villari's "A dream of freedom" will be presented. An imposing fresco of fifty years of history of the Kingdom of Naples, which culminated in the revolution of 1647.

On the basis of a comprehensive and unpublished documentation, the author reveals the most secret designs of the Spanish and local rulers and reconstructs the ideals and undertakings of reform movements and revolutionaries, from the capital to the most remote villages of the provinces, it pledged to win freedom and independence.


The event will take part at Capitolo Hall of San Domenico Maggiore Convent. The Convent, together with that of St. Peter Martyr, was the center of many episodes that saw the protagonists of the Neapolitan people and forces more lives and creative of society.

In the halls of San Domenico on display until May 31st, "The Impossible Exhibition" with painitngs by Leonardo, Raphael and Caravaggio, under the 'patronage of the President of the Republic. The exhibition presents, in actual size, and high-definition, 117 reproductions of paintings and the frescoes of the three great artists.
