The Other MANN. Deposits on display
They could be described as hidden treasures. In reality, the sixty works featured in the exhibition "The Other MANN. Deposits on Display" are symbolic of a gradual return of the museum's heritage to the city and tourists. The exhibition present in the Affreschi rooms, will also expand, by the end of September 2022, into the Plastico di Pompei: from the furnishings of the Vesuvian cities to the weapons of gladiators, from textiles to gold, with a focus on edibles. An exhibition in progress that, based on the incessant work of "excavation" and study in the immense deposits of the National Archaeological Museum in Naples, is a prelude to the doubling of the Pompeian collections presented to the public. And there is a curiosity: so many treasures, now kept in the deposits, have represented real cults for scientific literature since the moment of their discovery during excavations in the Vesuvian cities.

Beach Archaeology
By Maurizio Finotto in collaboration with Studio Trisorio
Installations made after ten years of research on Italian coastlines, using plastic objects brought by the sea to the sandy shores. The relics of contemporary society are resignified and reinterpreted, almost like fragments found during an archaeological excavation. Finotto's works, dioramas and video installations i, set up in the Neapolis Station spaces in the basement of the Museum, dialogue with the relics of antiquity. The installation reflects MANN's sensitivity to promoting respectful attitudes toward the environment.

Castel Sant'Elmo
via Tito Angelini, 22
Fortezza Europa exhibition by Ferruccio Orioli, curated by Anna Maria Romano and Claudia Borrelli, born from an idea of Marta Ragozzino, re-proposes with a new installation in the church and sacristy of Sant'Erasmo at Castel Sant'Elmo the works made on the occasion of three previous exhibitions - between 2018 and 2021 - focused on the themes of barriers between states, migration and the consequences they have on people. Contents even more topical at this historical moment, manifestations of a complex era marked by great economic and social inequalities, aggravated by the consequences of pandemics and wars, where we are all involved as inhabitants of an increasingly connected world.
The title of the exhibition, "Fortress Europe," takes a definition from the UNITED association and summarizes the narratives deployed in the three exhibitions, recalling the material and moral obstacles "put in place" by European states and the exploitation of the territories from which the very people who migrate come. Many are the relationships between Orioli's works and the exhibition venue, the Castle built in the 16th century by Pedro Luis Escriva- designed and built as an impregnable fortress.

Manga heroes. Heroes and myths on the slopes of the volcano with Paola Damiano
The exhibition, in collaboration with COMICON and J-POP MANGA, creates fantastic connections between worlds that are only seemingly distant: it is the volcano that is configured as a true cultural trait d'union. From Vesuvius, which buried Herculaneum and Pompeii in 79 A.D., to Fuji, a landmark of the Japanese pop tradition, the step is shorter than you think.

In addition, a room dedicated to Caracciolo will be set up inside the picture gallery of the prior's quarter, where drawings from the collection will also dialogue with the works.

Manga Heroes. Heroes and myths on the slopes of the volcano
comic book exhibition as part of COMICON.
The exhibit, in the halls of the Plastic of Pompeii and Oriental Cults, is dedicated to the art of Japanese comics. The Land of the Rising Sun shares with Naples the iconic and terrible presence of the volcano, here Mount Vesuvius, there Mount Fuji, both a source of artistic inspiration and, at the same time, perpetual alertness. The display also highlights the deep suggestions of classical culture that can be recognized in the world of manga.
