Sant'Elmo Castle

War fortress Castle of Peace

a castle in ruins

War fortress Castle of Peace has a variegated exposition way that crossing the ambulatories of the sixteenth century and, reaching d'Armi Square, gets to panoramic terraces, giving the opportunity to visitors also to read the story of San'Elmo Castle and of distinguished personalities that lived there through the centuries.
Covering the spaces in the castle we can see weapons and armours, that come from the collection farnesiano-burbon of Capodimonte Museum, collected and assembled in big "trophies". Paintings and incisions are the background of weapons, both of Salvator Rosa and other artists, the most part of them comes from Drawing Cabinet and Print of Capodimonte, from Neapolitan Society of Native Country History and from other Museums and private collectors. Closely linked to this section, and particularly to the sense that has the exhibition in the Fortress/Castle, is the reading of chosen passages about the story of Marguerite Yourcenar, Anna Soror, realized and produced by Enzo Salomone of the Cultural Association Quodlibet onlus.
Following the way through the ambulatories there are some expositions closely linked to the "inner" History of Sant' Elmo Castle:

Moreover, the artist Giancarlo Neri will realize, a work , a second moon, on thecastle wall of Sant' Elmo LUNA E LALTRA, title of the installation, that will be visible during the day and the night from a lot of point of Neaples and from the Gulf.
