It returns where the first staging started - at Mercadante Theatre of Naples from the 4th to the 16th of November - The Skin, the novel of 1949 by Curzio Malaparte, in the adaptation and direction by Marco Baliani.
An awaited play that the Mercadante produced in collaboration with Metastasio Theatre of Prato - where in 1898 Curzio Malaparte was born, dead in Rome in 1957- and proposes to the big audience of Naples, the city that the writer chose to describe the horrors of war.

Second piéce in the playbill, The Skin is interpreted by Baliani together with Elisa Cuppini, Alessandra Razzino, Maria Maglietta, Simone Martini, Guido Primicile Carafa, Michele Riondino, Giuseppe Sangiorgi, Caterina Simonelli e Marion D'Amburgo, the latter also deals with scenes and costumes. Roberto Innocenti is responsible for lights and music is once again by Mirto Baliani.

"The second world war - says the director- left in its passage a heap of ruins. In those years happened that, in the middle of our Europe and our culture, millions of human beings were turned into objects, things, without identity and soul. But this show is not about Naples in the postwar. It is about our world, our today."

According to Curzio Malaparte The Skin is our first defense, the feral and atavistic dimension belonging to all human beings. "Today - writes in his novel Malaparte - people suffer, kill and die, they do wonderful and awful things but not to safe their soul, just to safe their own skin. All the rest doesn't matter." The play follows some fragments of the book, proceeding in a succession of sceneries that remind infernal circles.
