The art of war... and peace

in collaboration with the theatre Le Nuvole

I have seen a wantonness in warfare among Christians which would be shameful even among barbarians; I have seen men run to arms for frivolous or non existent reasons, and having taken them up, show no reverence for divine or human law, as if at a word their fury had been unleashed and they were capable of any crime.
Ugo Grozio, De jure belli ac pacis, 1625

With these words it was described the spread of the war in Christian Europe of the period. The Farnesian armoury and D'Avalos tapestries with the Battle of Pavia scenes permit a "reading" of the 16th century war and its strategies. The Battle of Pavia costed very many human lives, the Europe was so shocked that great battles weren't fought for about a century. But if the war of the past was so destructive, what has it become nowadays?
Reflections on our time with the history dramatization intervention.
