Bruno Starita. Engraving and its surroundings

Maschio Angioino- Room Carlo V from April 23th to May 27th

On Thursday 23 April at 5.30 pm, there will be the inauguration of the exhibition "Bruno Starita. Engravings and its surroundings" supported by the Department of Culture of Naples City hall and organized by Lorella Starita for "Museum Project".
The official opening will be introduced by Aurora Spinosa, professor of Art history and, Art Gallery of Academy of fine arts manager; Enzo Salomone will play some poems of the artist.
Bruno Statira was born in 1933 in Naples, where he still now lives and works.
Since his youth,he has been studying the chalcographic tecnique.
In the '80s, the engraving work became more and more important and so he gave up his previous interest, painting.
Professor of Engraving techniques at the Academy of fine arts from 1969 to 2001, he often exhibits his own works.
There are his works in many collections of some Public Institutions, such as: Civic Collection of Bertarelli prints, Milano, Sforzesco Castle; Modern Graphic Art Gallery,Ascoli Piceno, Malaspina Palace; Council Art gallery A. Martini, Oderzo; Patrasso Museum of Contemporary art; Perugia Academy of Fine Arts; Art Museum of Italian Generations of the 20th century "G.Bargellini", Pieve di Cento; Art gallery of Naples Academy of Fine Arts; Cabinet of prints at Vaticani Museums.
The exhibition dedicated to the artist, who is considered one of the main contemporary engravers, aims to do homage to his lengthy career, thanks to the selection of about 50 engravings (etchings, aquatints and so on) that covered a period which comes from 1950 and still continues today, but, at the same time, it looks at other artistic fields, such as paintings and photography.
Moreover, the exhibition of "work-tools", will give an interesting educational feel.
A video which deals with the techniques, shot by the artist himself, and an interview with Mario Franco, will be shown in the San Francesco from Paola Chapel.
In the catalogue, edited by Lorella Starita and graphic design by Enzo Bergamene, an anthology tells us the main steps of his career.
Moreover, the publishing of some his poems (some of them are unknown),can help to understand his visionary world.
